Experience the Everglades

Tuesday, August 30th, 2011

The Florida Everglades is unlike any other area in this country. It is a vast, mysterious, masterpiece. It’s well worth making yourself comfortable at a SW Florida Bed and Breakfast, so you can explore it at leisure.

It takes time to discover the Everglades. More than one visit is required. It is a place that should be experienced over and over again, like a good novel. The more time you spend there, the more you uncover. The more you see.

Experience the Florida Everglades.

Skim over the water in a jet airboat, or bounce across the land in a swamp buggy. Slip silently through the water in a guided Pole Boat, or have your own adventure in a rented canoe. See manatees and alligators, unpopulated beaches and Mangrove Jungles. After you’ve been here once, you’ll want to return again and again.

Make your home in a SW Florida Bed and Breakfast while you explore the Everglades. Sleep in luxurious comfort at night after visiting one of the most untamed parts of the country by day.

Horseback Riding Hutchinson Island

Horseback riding on the beach - simply wonderful.

Horseback riding can be thrilling whether up mountain trails or down country lanes, but perhaps the most incredible place to ride a horse is on a beach. Many beaches on the east coast no longer allow horseback riding. Hutchinson Island, in Southeast Florida, does.

Hutchinson Island has 21 miles of unspoiled beach. The white sands are bordered by the cobalt-blue waters of the Atlantic and sable palms. Walking these beaches is relaxing and romantic. Riding horseback on them is unforgettable.

The St. Lucie County’s Parks and Recreation Department offers horseback riding trips most Sundays. These excursions last 90 minutes, and depart from the Frederick Douglass Memorial Park on South Hutchinson Island.

It’s easy to have a romantic getaway at a Florida Bed and Breakfast – they inherently lend themselves to such things. But if you’re looking to really woo your sweetie, invite him or her to go horseback riding on the beaches of Hutchinson Island.

A Gem on the Forgotten Coast

Panama City Beach

Panama City Beach

The coast of Northwest Florida is known as the Forgotten Coast, for the developments that have mushroomed throughout much of the southeast largely passed by this place. There are a few exceptions of course: Panama City Beach has a long strip of amusement parks, arcades, bars, and eateries, and it is a hot spot for many vacationers. Yet once travelers leave the heart of Panama City Beach, they find mile after mile of sandy beaches, lots of opportunities for outdoor recreation, and few crowds.

Panama City Beach offers a pleasant diversion for guests of Northwest Florida Bed and Breakfasts, and it is certainly worth a look. Yet folks seeking unspoiled beaches, quaint towns, and good surfing spots should also plan to spend some time in Mexico Beach. (more…)
