Market Street in Celebration, Florida

If you’ve been to Orlando, Florida, there is a good chance you’ve been to Disney World and Epcot. These places are, after all, internationally renowned. Many guests of Central East Florida Bed and Breakfasts spend at least one day during their vacations exploring the world of Disney.

Celebration, Florida, is less well known than Disney World, but it is also the result of Walt Disney’s vision. It is the first master planned community created by The Walt Disney World Company, and it is thriving. (more…)

Billions of Butterflies

Butterflies are back

Sit peacefully with the butterflies at the Fort Meyers Butterfly Estates.

There aren’t actually billions of butterflies at The Butterfly Estates, but there certainly are thousands of them. Located in the River District of Fort Meyers, Butterfly Estates is part butterfly conservatory, part botanical gardens, and part historic village. It is a delightful place to visit while vacationing at Southwest Florida Bed and Breakfasts in nearby Bokeelia and Cape Coral.

Nathaniel Hawthorne once wrote, “Happiness is a Butterfly, which when pursued, is always beyond our grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you!”

A few hours at The Butterfly Estates does calm and refresh the soul. Guests are invited to sit among gorgeous tropical plants and cascading waterfalls and watch butterflies as they flutter about in search of nectar. The Glazed Glass Butterfly Conservatory is over 3,500 square feet of fragrant tranquility. If you sit quietly enough, a butterfly may well rest on your shoulders or head. Take it as a good omen – the happiness Hawthorne thought it to be.

Fort Meyers is perhaps best known as being home to the Winter Estates of American giants Henry Ford and Thomas Edison. A visit to Fort Meyers is a fun break from days spent lounging on beaches, boating up and down the coast, and jumping waves in the Gulf of Mexico. Fort Meyers has several interesting historic sites, art museums, and nature centers. And Fort Meyers has the Butterfly Estates.

Hours and directions are available at The Butterfly Estates.

Florida Weddings

Start your life as a married couple in Florida.

Weddings are wonderful events no matter where they take place. When couples commit to spending their lives together, it doesn’t really matter if they take their vows in their own back yard or in their local church or temple. The important thing is that they make that commitment.

That said, Destination Weddings can be spectacular.

Couples are drawn to Destination Weddings because it’s exciting to get married in beautiful or far away places. It can also be significantly easier to marry away from home. That’s why many people choose to have their Weddings at Florida Bed and Breakfasts.

Destination Weddings tend to be smaller than weddings hosted close to home. Guests typically include a handful of friends and close family members. Details such as refreshments, photography, and flowers are often arranged by the Florida Bed and Breakfast innkeepers. The happy couple may have as much or as little input as they like.

This allows couples to rejoice in their marriage and enjoy their guests.

Destination Weddings in Florida may be held on the beach, in private gardens, and in luxurious Bed and Breakfast inns. They are the ideal way to begin a life together.

Please see Florida Weddings for a list of Florida Bed and Breakfasts specializing in weddings and elopements.

Delray Beach Turns 100

Delray Beach during a lunar eclipse.

The charming community of Delray Beach, in Southeast Florida, is 100 years old this year. It’s come a long way since it was first settled in 1911, but it still embraces and celebrates its history. Consider spending some time in Delray Beach, Florida Bed and Breakfasts while you explore this interesting town.

Less than a decade ago, Delray Beach was a sleepy community nestled midway between Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale. Those who knew it appreciated its beautiful (and uncrowded) beaches, lovely historic architecture, and relaxing atmosphere. It still has all those attributes, but it has blossomed into something more.

Delray Beach today boasts a main street with more than 100 galleries, boutiques, cafes and eateries. The cuisine in Delray Beach is top notch and varied. Enjoy pan-Asian food with flair and drinks in the glass atrium at Buddha Sky Bar; relax with a glass of wine and traditional French fare at Cafe de France; tuck into plates of fresh, organic food at Ciao Sidewalk Cafe; and feast on tasty steak at sleek, modern Cut 432. If none of these are to your liking, fear not – there are dozens more restaurants in Delray Beach.

The Delray Beach Art District is comprised of more than 20 art galleries featuring glass work, fine arts, sculpture and more. The events calendar  is filled with wine tastings, art shows, historic trolley tours, and concerts. A handful of nightclubs allow the energetic to dance until (almost) dawn.

Delray Beach is worth getting to know. Make yourself at home in a Delray Beach, Florida Bed and Breakfast. You won’t regret it.
