Celebrate the 4th of July in Tallahassee

During your stay at our Northwest Florida bed and breakfasts, don’t miss some of the region’s fun, family-friendly 4th of July events!

Tallahassee’s 2012 Celebrate America 4th of July
Celebrate America is one of Tallahassee’s biggest annual events. Thousands gather in Tom Brown Park for this popular Fourth of July tradition. On Wednesday, July 4, 2012, the festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. It’s best to arrive early because parking in Tom Brown Park is limited. However, there will also be a free shuttle service from Koger Center at 1311 Executive Center Drive in Tallahassee. However you get to the park, it’ll be worth it! This is a great family-friendly event featuring a kids’ play area, water slides, pony rides and Naturalization Ceremony as well as vendors for arts, crafts and just about every kind of food you can imagine. There will also be two stages featuring live performances including this year’s main act…none other than the Fabulous Thunderbirds!

Once it’s dark, the grand closing act begins: a “Sky Concert” fireworks display by East Coast Pyrotechnics. It’s a big and unforgettable show you won’t want to miss.

2012 Apalachicola Independence Day Celebration
On the Florida Panhandle’s coast, the beautiful maritime town of Apalachicola will celebrate Independence Day on Tuesday, July 3, 2012. The festivities will center around Apalachicola’s downtown Riverfront Park. At 6:30 p.m., the Red, White & Blue parade will make its colorful way from Lafayette Park through downtown, ending at Riverfront Park with an  ice cream social. Arrive early to claim your place along the route and wear your best red-white-and-blue outfit. Riverfront Park will have a festival atmosphere with live music, vendors and food to keep everyone entertained until the 9 p.m. fireworks. Then it’ll be time to ‘oooh’ and ‘aaaah’ at the spectacular show over the Apalachicola River.

The very next day, make your way across the bay to St. George Island. Their 4th of July parade will start at 11:00 a.m. In the evening, the Blue Parrot Oceanfront Café will have a fireworks display as part of their annual Freedom Fest celebration. Watch from the deck, sip a drink and enjoy the show!

After your 4th of July excitement is over, come home to the best of Northwest Florida hospitality offered by the bed and breakfasts of Apalachicola and Tallahassee.
