Sea Glass Inn Melbourne FL Summer Fun

Sea Glass Inn

Sea Glass Inn

The summer is in full swing at the Sea Glass Inn Bed and Breakfast in Melbourne Beach, Florida and it has been quite exciting. All of the guests have been venturing down to the beach at night and are being rewarded with a record number of turtles nesting and laying their eggs. Many have joined in with the Preservation Society guides and have been treated to an up close view of this amazing part of nature. A few more weeks of nesting then the hatching begins.  Another marvelous sight, is when over 100 eggs hatch and the babies head for the ocean to begin their new life.

The Sea Glass Inn guest have also enjoyed intimate River tours where they have seen dolphins and manatees right next to their boat. Along with many birds such as Osprey, Great Blue Heron, and Ibis to view, this makes for an incredible day on the water.

The 4th of July weekend was spectacular, with a full house of guest who all seemed to become instant friends.  Spending the afternoon around the pool, walking over to the River to watch fireworks over the water, then ended the evening by the pool and fire pit area. The Innkeepers even decided to do happy hour out at the pool and that was a huge success.

Richard and Jeanne Beaudoin thank all their guest, and hope that you will join them in coming months to enjoy the Sea Glass Inn and all it has to offer.

Kayak tours are a fantastic way to explore both coastal waters and inland waters. Try a romantic sunset paddle, or a moonlight cook-out and paddle. Consider an afternoon of kayak sailing; it’s a great way to cover more distance and pick up a little speed. Kayak the Jack Island Preserve area of the Indian River Lagoon or the quiet Sebastian river. Explore Blue Cypress Lake, home to many wonderful birds, or paddle around the Barrier Islands, home to dolphins and manatee. Any time in a kayak will be fun. See Tropical Kayak Tours for more possibilities.

Stand up Paddle boarding is a fantastic way to feel fit and have fun. It doesn’t matter if you’re experienced or a novice–if you fall in, the water is warm. See what it’s like to walk on water in the company of dolphins and manatee. It could be one of those life-changing experiences. Please see Super Eco Adventures for specifics.

Honest John’s Fish Camp is a local treasure. The legacy of an honest man who loved to fish lives on here, run by his grandchildren. This is a good place to rent a fishing boat and learn about the local waters and fish. You’ll also see wonderful wildlife.

Watch Them Run

Folks who find speed thrilling may want to check out the Melbourne Greyhound Park. Located approximately 10 miles from cozy Melbourne Beach Florida Bed and Breakfasts, the Greyhound Park offers racing several times a day, twelve months a year. When you want to spice up a relaxing beach vacation, consider spending a day at the track.

The racing calendar features Thoroughbred Horse and Harness Racing April through December. January through March, the tracks are for greyhounds. See the Racing Calendar for more information.

Greyhound racing takes place January through March at Melbourne Park.

Jai Alai is also played here. A Basque sport akin to racket ball, Jai Alai is a fast-paced game that inspires betting. Even when no bets are placed, it’s fun to watch.

Melbourne Greyhound is also home to Grouchos Comedy Club. Some of the funniest comedians in the country stand up at 8:30 p.m., every Saturday night.

A Florida Bed and Breakfast vacation conjures images of romance and gourmet food. It’s easy to imagine sharing a bottle of wine with the person you love while admiring the setting sun, and it’s easy to picture romping in the waves and lounging on the sand. For many, this is more than enough – it’s perfect. Yet some folks need to spice things up a bit, and a day at Melbourne Greyhound Park may be just the thing.
