Shark Tooth

From April 12 – 14, 2013, fossil collectors from all over come to Venice Florida to celebrate the overabundance of prehistoric sharks teeth found in the “Shark Tooth Capital of the World”, located at the Venice Municipal Airport Festival Grounds on Airport Avenue.  Sharks Teeth are on display as well as other prehistoric fossils.  Millions of black and white sharks teeth fossils wash up on Venice Beach every year.  Not only sharks teeth are on display, but you will find over 100 arts and craft displays, delicious food, and live entertainment.  Bring the entire family to the Venice Shark Tooth Festival so the children can participate in the Sharks Tooth Scramble or be amazed at the Mote Marine hands on exhibit.  This carnival like atmosphere is the perfect way to spend a beautiful spring weekend.  There is also a 10K Run on April 13th that benefits Athletes of Special Olympics of Sarasota County.  The Sharks Tooth Festival is a project of Special Athlete Boosters, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency.  All proceeds of the festival benefit Special Olympics of Sarasota County.

Best of the Road was born from a collaboration between Rand McNally and USA TODAY. The aim is to find and share the most interesting stops along the country’s highways and byways. Reviewers share their favorite small towns, pit stops, restaurants, and other points of interest.

Florida makes the list again and again, with towns, cities, and many fun spots. The Best of the Road is just one more reason to plan a Florida Vacation. We hope you’ll stay in Florida Bed and Breakfasts when you do.

Explore Florida’s Venice

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

Each April, Venice, Florida, hosts a Sharks Tooth Festival that draws fossil collectors from all over the country and world. Collectors set up booths near the Venice Fishing Pier to show off (and sometimes sell) these amazing teeth. The great variety of sharks teeth is astounding.

Fabulous fossil collections aside, the Venice Sharks Tooth Festival is just plain fun. Arts, crafts, food and music round out the fossils. It you are interested in attending the Sharks Tooth Festival in April 2012, consider reserving a room at a Venice Florida Bed and Breakfast soon.

Beach walkers often find sharks teeth on the dark-sanded beaches in and around Venice. Another good way to see them is to visit the ancient shark burial ground a few miles off the coast, in the Gulf of Mexico. Scuba divers and snorkelers have made great finds under the water.

Sharks’ teeth aside, Venice is a lovely little town. Vacationers enjoy fishing off the pier, strolling through town, golfing, and tucking into plates of delicious seafood at Sharky’s On The Pier.

Make yourself at home in a Venice Fl Bed and Breakfast, and learn the true meaning of relaxation.
