Earth Day 2023 is just around the corner, and Martin County is gearing up for an exciting lineup of events! From educational eco-friendly programming to good old-fashioned community clean-ups, there are tons of ways to get involved. Here are 4 ideas for the whole family to get involved.
EARTH DAY AT HOBE SOUND NATURE CENTER
This free family event includes lots to do. Storytime with live animals kicks off at 9 am. At 11 am, kiddos can wade in the grasslands to find small creatures that live in the Indian River Lagoon. And in the afternoon, meet a real owl and participate in a pellet dissection! There will also be crafts, games, and prizes all day. Reservations are required. Learn more here.
TCWC OPEN HOUSE – WOODSTORK 2023
Mark your calendar for Saturday, April 22! The Treasure Coast Wildlife Center is hosting their annual open house event “WoodStork.” All year long, the staff at TCWC work to rehabilitate and return injured, ill, and orphaned animals to the wild. They also offer educational services to the public. Join them for a fun day of craft beverages, local music, animal encounters, and a kids zone (all the while learning what their organization is all about). The cost is $10 for adults and kids 12 and under are free. Learn more here.
SWEEPING THE STREETS – DOWNTOWN STUART CLEANUP
This year, Stuart Main Street is kicking off Earth Day in a big way! Take part in “Sweeping the Streets,” the first annual Downtown Stuart cleanup. The day will begin at 8 am at The Flagler of Stuart. Whether you’re a Martin County resident or just someone who adores this little seaside town, everyone can join together and lend a helping hand to keep the heart of Historic Downtown Stuart vibrant, green, and clean. EARTH DAY AT THE PARK
Celebrate Earth Day at the Park! Jonathan Dickinson State Park will have lots of activities going on throughout the day at (and around) the Kimbell Center. At 9 am, join a guided 1-mile hike along the River Trail. At 11 am, there will be a litter pick-up (and all participants will get their park entry fee refunded). From 11 am to 1 pm, kids can learn about prescribed fire and even spray the fire hose! And don’t miss the interactive “Who Lives in the Park?” program about the animals that call this state park home. Learn more here.
