North Central Florida Blues Society kicks off the 2021 series of concerts with a showcase at High Dive with in-person and live-streaming tickets available. Rick Randlett has toured the East Coast extensively from Quebec, Canada to Florida, sharing the stage with many well-known musicians, including Joe Perry of Aerosmith. Middleground consists of Barbara and Mark Armbrecht and is the product of over 40 years of professional music collaboration. Dr. Jules and the JuJu Man has been on a crusade to preserve the Blues and spread the sound often with skeptical and humorous lyrics.

Sub Rosa is a show series of outdoor concerts and performances. Sub Rosa, Latin for “under the rose” is an ancient phrase meant to describe a secret meeting place marked by a rose. Sub Rosa is supported by the makers of Riverine Reunion, MusicGNV, the Alachua Conservation Trust, and a grant from the Alachua County Arts Council. All Sub Rosa shows will take place in outdoor settings with ample space to social distance, highlighting the beauty of various scenic vistas around Alachua County.

Author and historian Rick Kilby returns to the Matheson to share his latest book, “Florida’s Healing Waters: Gilded Age Mineral Springs, Seaside Resorts & Health Spas.” Filled with rare photographs, vintage postcards and advertisements, and fascinating descriptions from over 100 years ago, “Florida’s Healing Waters” spotlights a little-known time in Florida history when tourists poured into the state in search of good health. Registration for the webinar is free via Zoom and streamed live on Facebook.
