It just got easier and safer to launch a kayak at De Leon Springs State Park to enjoy the surrounding waters and experience nature.
Melissa Borghost, pictured above, is a member of the De Leon Springs Community Association (DSCA) who is responsible for bringing up the idea of a kayak launcher to DSCA that would allow people to enter and exit kayaks more easily.
Melissa worked with park manager Ken Torres on the details, and DSCA members generously donated the $2,584.00 necessary to purchase this kayak launcher.
If you kayak, you know how hard it can be to get in or out of one in the slippery, steep or rocky area. If you ever wanted to give kayaking a try, this is a great place to do it!
