DeLand Fall Festival of the Arts Nov 23-24

More than 170 extraordinary artists and fine craftsmen will be setting up booths in DeLand, Florida, on America’s Best MainStreet, Woodland Boulevard, November 23 and 24, from 10 am – 5 pm both days.  A free juried exhibit of fine art and fine craft in painting, glass, sculpture, jewelry, leather, photography, printmaking, wood, ceramics, mixed media, and fiber, along with music, entertainment and children’s activities creates a full, family weekend amid DeLand’s wine bars, pubs, and great restaurants.
In addition to the visual arts, The DeLand Fall Festival has a full entertainment schedule. Two stages keep the music flowing.  The Main Stage on East Indiana Avenue grooves and rocks Saturday with Estate Sale Boat, Whyte Tygers and Johnny Wild and the Delights.  Pioneer Park on East Rich Avenue, offers rockabilly, jump blues, county and oldtime R&B from the Oak Hill Drifters, flamenco jazz with Bobby Koelble and singer songwriter Juno Smile duo with acoustic string instruments and drums.  There is also a poetry slam, 2 to 5 pm at the Blind Pig Pub, 148 W New York.
In addition, in Chess Park, 125 West Indiana Avenue on the east side of the historic courthouse, the Stetson School of Music will perform: The Magic Flute at noon; Hat Trick at 12:45.  At 1 pm the Youth String Orchestra from the Community School of Music and at 2:30, Schubert String Quartet in A Minor performs Rosamunde. Crowning Grace does a set of their own pieces at 2:45 and at 3:30 Mozart Flute Quartet in D Major K.258.
Sunday has a full line up: DeLand of Funk, Brown Bag Brass Band and Mark Hodgson Band on the Main Stage and the Porchdogs, Ella & The Bossa Beat and Ben Prestage at Pioneer Park.  See the music schedule at http://delandfallfestival.com/music/ 
Also be on the lookout for roaming performers.  Danny Sorensen with his hand pan, and the “Very Large Quartet” Beetlejuice barbershop serenaders!
Kids will enjoy art projects, face painting and many other activities in the Youth Art Area located just south of the intersection of New York & Woodland Avenues.
The Youth Art exhibit in the rotunda of the Thomas C. Kelly Administration Building showcases more than 1200 student art works from the county’s public and private schools. Youth performance in the Athens Theater, 124 North Florida Avenue, presents performing arts experiences for children.
